CASTLEHEAD WOOD

CASTLEHEAD WOOD
Beech trees are my all time favourite trees, and Castlehead Wood near Keswick has some fine examples. I shot this lying in the remnants of the autumn leaves with the camera just a few inches above the ground, looking up into the branches with
a wide angle lens.

Full colour somehow didn't do it justice in my opinion, but the contrast in colour-saturation between the bright mossy roots and the grey of the trunk was powerful. So I used a technique which tones the more colourful parts of the original but leaves the grey bits grey. This is the result.
