Cold Edge
| << | ![]() The very first rays of light catch Curbar Gap on a cold spring morning.
The right conditions provide these cloud inversions where the valleys, cooled by radiation, fill with fog while up on the hills the sun is shining. This was very soon after dawn as the sun was just managing to throw it's light onto a patch of heather, a rock and a tree, but further down the valley was bouncing of the top of the mist. Ground frost was relatively light, but the temperature was several degrees below freezing and as I hardly ever wear gloves when working, my hands tightened and became useless until the sun had done enough to raise the thermometer.
